How do I know if I need counseling?
Counseling can be beneficial when symptoms negatively impact your life, relationships, job, focus and/or overall health. When it becomes too difficult to manage symptoms, counseling can be a helpful tool in feeling better.
What populations do you work with?
I work with individuals of any age, couples, and families.
How does counseling work?
The first step is an initial consultation where information and history is gathered. Next, a plan is developed for moving forward, including which type of therapy will be most effective (individual, couples or family) and frequency of sessions. Most importantly, after the first session, you will have a good idea how comfortable you are with me! Therapeutic relationship is the most important thing in a successful outcome and always my top priority.
How long does counseling last?
Each session will last 50 minutes. After the first session, we will decide how often sessions will occur (every week, every 2 weeks, etc). There is no typical length of therapy, as it depends on the therapeutic process, level of client participation and accomplishment of goals.
How much does counseling cost:
See Pricing menu for more information. If I am not a provider for your insurance plan,
all sessions are $100 (*sliding scale may apply). Payment is required prior to each session.
What is an LMFT?
An LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my license originally in California in 2001. After moving to Colorado, I earned my license in the state of Colorado in 2008 (LMFT #856). I have a total of 16 years experience in the field. LMFT’s are qualified to do therapy with individuals, couples and families. The practice of both licensed and unlicensed persons in the field of psychotherapy is regulated by the Colorado State Departments of Regulatory Agencies. See: www.dora.state.co.us
Is counseling confidential?
All information discussed in therapy sessions remains confidential unless mandated by law. Required mandates include any information shared that is an imminent threat to harm self or others, or reports of child or elder abuse.
What if I have to cancel my appointment?
There is no charge for cancellations made at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. However, for missed appointments and appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance, you will be charged for the full session fee.
Will my insurance pay for counseling?
I currently accept BCBS and ComPsych EAP (employee assistance program). It is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider to make certain I am in network for your particular plan and obtain an authorization number. If I am not in network, we can discuss private pay options.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can reach me by phone or email to schedule an appointment. I will always return your call within 24 hours.
